Photographing dogs isn't just something I do—it's something I've spent years around.
Before starting Roaming Lens Photography, I worked at a canine rehabilitation center where I handled dogs of all ages, personalities, and mobility levels. From energetic working dogs, puppies, reactive dogs, seniors, and dogs recovering from injury. I learned how to read body language, earn trust, and work at each dog's pace.
Today, I combine that experience with my love for hiking, backpacking, and the outdoors to create photographs that feel genuine—not forced.
Whether we're exploring an Oregon beach, hiking beneath Mount Hood, wandering forest trails, or simply letting your dog be themselves, their comfort always comes first.

I don’t place strict limits on the number of photos you’ll receive or how long your session lasts. During every adventure, I capture a variety of angles, expressions, movement, and quiet moments because the image I love most may not be the one that means the most to you.
If we plan a one-hour session but your dog needs more time to become comfortable and let their personality shine, we’ll keep going—with no additional charge. I believe your experience should feel relaxed, never rushed.
When you invest in photography, you should receive the full story of your adventure together—not just a small selection of images. Every session is different, but you can expect a generous gallery of carefully edited photos that authentically capture your dog’s personality and the connection you share.

Where will my session take place?
Your dog's favorite place is usually the best place to tell their story. Sessions can take place along the Oregon Coast, around Mount Hood, in the Columbia River Gorge, on forest trails, alpine lakes, local parks, or wherever your adventures naturally lead.
I'm based in Portland, Oregon, and regularly travel throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. I'm always happy to travel beyond that area for an additional travel fee.
My dog can't be off leash. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Your dog's safety always comes first. Leashes, long lines, and harnesses can often be professionally removed during editing, allowing your dog to safely explore while still creating natural-looking photographs.
My dog doesn't sit still. Can we still book?
Absolutely. Some of my favorite images come from dogs simply being themselves. Before becoming a photographer, I spent nearly two years working as a canine rehabilitation hydrotherapy technician, giving me experience working with dogs of all ages, breeds, personalities, and energy levels—including puppies, seniors, reactive dogs, and high-drive adventure dogs.
Sessions are relaxed and completely dog-led, allowing plenty of time for breaks, play, and exploring.
What should we bring?
I recommend bringing your dog's favorite treats, water, a leash or long line, poop bags, and any toys that help capture their personality. If you'd like to be in the photos, wear comfortable outdoor clothing in neutral or earth-tone colors that complement the landscape.
How long does it take to receive my gallery?
Your online gallery is typically delivered within 2–3 weeks.
Lasting Light Sessions receive priority editing whenever possible and are typically delivered within 1–2 weeks.
What if the weather doesn't cooperate?
One of the best parts of living in the Pacific Northwest is embracing the elements. Light rain, fog, and moody skies often create beautiful, atmospheric photographs. If conditions become unsafe or severe, we'll happily reschedule your session.
How do I book?

When is payment due?
A 50% non-refundable retainer is required at the time of booking to reserve your session date. The remaining balance is due on or before your scheduled session date.
This allows me to dedicate the time, planning, and preparation needed to create a personalized experience for you and your dog.
